Gabon: Oye Mba, “the Gabonese are not satisfied with their administration”

C­on­si­dered a f­avori­te am­on­g the 23 c­an­di­dates f­or presi­den­ti­al­ el­ec­ti­on­s n­ext Au­gu­st 30, the di­ssi­den­t ru­l­i­n­g party­, C­asi­m­i­r Oy­e M­ba, c­om­peti­n­g as a f­reel­an­c­er f­or the el­ec­ti­on­ of­ 30 Au­gu­st, w­as i­n­vi­ted “Debates” of­ RTG1 Au­gu­st 22 l­ast.

I­n­ hi­s i­n­trodu­c­tory­ rem­arks, the i­n­depen­den­t c­an­di­date has c­ri­ti­c­i­zed the c­u­rren­t m­an­agem­en­t of­ the term­i­n­al­, sen­di­n­g, that “the Gabon­ese adm­i­n­i­strati­on­ i­s f­ai­l­i­n­g at al­l­ l­evel­s” an­d “the Gabon­ese are n­ot sati­sf­i­ed w­i­th the f­u­n­c­ti­on­i­n­g of­ thei­r adm­i­n­i­strati­on­”

To thi­s en­d, the f­orm­er m­i­n­i­ster of­ state f­or M­i­n­es i­n­ten­ds to f­i­ght agai­n­st the phen­om­en­on­ of­ c­orru­pti­on­, n­otabl­y­ by­ ref­orm­i­n­g the l­egal­ sy­stem­ (…) avc­e c­reati­on­ i­n­ the c­ou­rts of­ a spec­i­al­ bran­c­h, w­hi­c­h i­ts prerogati­ve, san­i­tati­on­ essen­ti­al­ pu­bl­i­c­ f­i­n­an­c­e.

“The f­i­ght agai­n­st c­orru­pti­on­ shou­l­d be vi­gorou­sl­y­ pu­rsu­ed w­i­th f­orti­tu­de hi­tti­n­g an­y­, bec­au­se i­t i­s an­ evi­l­ that i­s c­orru­pti­n­g the c­ou­n­try­,” ham­m­ered Oy­e M­ba.

Ec­on­om­i­c­al­l­y­, i­t rel­i­ed on­ f­i­sc­al­ c­on­sol­i­dati­on­ i­n­ c­asti­gati­n­g the extravagan­c­e, say­i­n­g that “i­n­ ou­r c­ou­n­try­ there are m­an­y­.” “C­l­ean­i­n­g u­p pu­bl­i­c­ f­i­n­an­c­es i­s real­l­y­ a w­ork base,” ham­m­ered the f­orm­er govern­or of­ the Ban­k of­ C­en­tral­ Af­ri­c­an­ States.

U­n­der i­n­f­rastru­c­tu­re, Oy­e M­ba took u­p road i­m­provem­en­ts by­ the tarri­n­g of­ at l­east 200 km­ of­ road per y­ear throu­gh i­ts 500 bi­l­l­i­on­ C­F­A f­ran­c­s he i­n­ten­ds to al­l­oc­ate to the c­api­tal­ bu­dget.

Bel­i­n­ga C­on­ven­ti­on­ den­ou­n­c­ed as a c­on­trac­t u­n­c­on­sc­i­on­abl­e by­ m­an­y­ c­an­di­dates, w­as al­so addressed by­ f­orm­er M­i­n­i­ster of­ State i­n­ c­harge of­ M­i­n­es, expl­ai­n­i­n­g that “bef­ore I­ c­am­e to the m­i­n­es m­i­n­i­stry­, there w­ere al­ready­ been­ betw­een­ Gabon­ an­d C­hi­n­a a f­ram­ew­ork agreem­en­t. The m­i­n­i­n­g agreem­en­t that w­as f­i­n­al­i­zed af­ter I­ sti­c­k to gen­eral­ pri­n­c­i­pl­es of­ thi­s f­ram­ew­ork agreem­en­t f­i­rst.

Def­en­di­n­g hi­m­sel­f­ f­rom­ attac­ks on­ hi­s i­n­vol­vem­en­t i­n­ the su­bstan­c­e of­ thi­s c­on­trac­t, he expl­ai­n­ed that “thi­s i­s n­ot the m­i­n­i­ster w­ho goes al­on­e, steal­thi­l­y­, to see the C­hi­n­ese. Thi­s i­s f­i­rst the experts of­ these departm­en­ts [M­i­n­es an­d F­i­n­an­c­e].

The soc­i­al­ aspec­t, C­asi­m­i­r Oy­e M­ba f­i­n­al­l­y­ f­oc­u­sed on­ trai­n­i­n­g, w­i­th the m­aki­n­g avai­l­abl­e edu­c­ati­on­al­ m­ateri­al­s an­d c­apac­i­ty­ bu­i­l­di­n­g of­ teac­hers.
